Cleave used to have the barest, slightest edge over Eviscerate in terms of damage over time, but lost out bigtime because the lack of Deep Wound and spike. After the rebalance, Cleave is clearly the better choice in terms of sustained damage.
Thing is, you don't run axes for sustained damage. You run axes for spike.
I guess you could run Cleave on a second Warrior if you already had an Eviscerate, but there are better spike damage skills out there.

Cleave still doesn't have deep wound, and the calculations done weren't counting that effect.. besides, Eviscerate has a cooler name.

evis = dismember+execution strike in one skill , + axe rake for an awsome combo
cleave = 2 execution strike and combo, hmm no combo :/

Eviscerate is still superior.

Yup have to agree, while cleave is theoretically better in terms of damage quotient, eviscerate will always have the edge because it incorporates deep wound, which means you can link with the two axe skills that need a deep wound to add extra conditions.
Until you can combo cleave, evisc will always be number 1.

like some people have said, it depends on how you look at it. which has the most damage in the long run? cleave does, easily. but evis provides more of a spike which is what is really necessary because you can do a decent amount of damage consistently, but it will always get healed. with evis, you just do enough damage once to take the target out. if you have an axe warrior in a degen build, i woud suggest you run cleave. otherwise, evis is better situationally.

Actually, I'd love to see the numbers again, but it appears that Cleave may be the winner.
You can almost run an endless string of Cleave at a damage rate that is only 3 less than eviscerate.

i actually came against a pretty decent degen team with some really sexy mesmers (but thats a little off topic)... anyway their warrior used cleave, and it did like 22 damage or something. and i just thought he would have done *much* better with eviscerate, just because regardless of how you prot yourself you still go down 20% from the deep wound, which is nothing to sneeze at.
anyway i at least want to try cleave in like CA/TA now, just to see how good/bad it is

If you really have a distaste of swords a cleave spammer would fit well as a tertiary warrior in a 3 man team. Sword is still better than cleave as non-evis and non-kd option though. Personally.

I managed to pull off an uber high dps cleave build.
High DPS mind you, but NOT high spike damage.
Evis has the spike factor and surprise factor making it the stronger one for sure...
However, now that Cleave got a buff, shutting a monk out from helping his teammates to just helping himself is now quite hot...
[Weaken Armor + Cleave = PAIN...]
